Suwon Hwaseong is the first planned 'new town in the Joseon Dynasty. 2 years was spent to build it starting from 1794. Although it was only built for 220 years only, it was registered as the UNESCO World Heritage in 1997. Even though it was slightly destroyed during the Japanese occupation period, it is now well restored.
Hwaseong Train connects the Paldalsan Mountain and the Yeonmudae. Ride on the train and travel for 30 mins(3.2 km), and to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Suwon Hwaseong.
When the king secretly visited the people, the Hwaseong Palace was used as the temporary accommodation. The palace is huge and was used in various ways, that is why it is also called as the "sub-palace" of the Kyeongbok Palace.
