The Kagoshima sea is 600 kilometers long from north to south. These waters see the massice kuroshio current cut across the Tugara Islands to the Pacific Ocean, bringing with it a number of marine species including whale sharks and tuna. In addition, coral reefs develop from Yakushima and Tanegashima islands toYoron island. These waters are home to colorful subtropical fish and shellfish species. In front of the aquarium, there are blue waves and an active volcano Sakura Island stands in the middle of the bay. On the surrounding coast, rolling stones formed by large and small lava rocks extend from the shallows to the depth of the sea, forming a unique underwater landscape. A few or even dozens of southern half-dolphins dolphin roaming on the sea in groups deep in the bay, and more than 200 long-nosed real dolphins roam the whole area of Kinko Bay. Although Kinko Bay is an inner bay, it also has a 200-meter-deep sea area inhabited by many deep-sea creatures. Additionally, a new species of tube worm can be found on the sea floor at depths of around 90 meters in the upper bay. Marine biologists have revealed that their basis of survival is hydrogen sulfide gas ejected from the bottom of Sakurajima. This colorful Kagoshima marine environment and a wide variety of creatures far exceed other sea areas. The Kagoshima City Aquarium showcases this diverse collection of marine life using exhibits organized according to theme. This includes The kurosio Current and The Waters off the Nansei Islands on the second floor and The Waters off Kagoshima on the fourth floor that focuses on Kinko Bay. When you are there, remember to catch the various exciting events and entertaining shows! Come and explore this unique aquarium now!
