Faceted Edo Glass Making Workshop

Make `faceted Edo glass` plates with your own hands, a traditional craft from the Edo period

In this experience at a professional glass craft educational facility, you can learn directly from experienced instructors. One of the charms of this experience is that you can freely enjoy a professional glass craft experience. If 7 years or older, children can also join the experience and in a short time span of only 60 minutes you can make your glass, so you can join even if you don't have much time.

Faceted Edo glass, which is designated as a traditional craft by the Japanese government, uses a technique of applying a geometrical pattern on the surface of the glass. With a grinder only used for this type of glass, with diamonds embedded in the cutting edge, the surface of the plate is cut. This cutting process is important to make the finished faceted Edo glass shine. You can make something simple but it is also alright to make an extravagant pattern. You can bring the faceted Edo glass item, a traditional craft that was born in Tokyo, home with you as a souvenir.
