In Asakusa, the center of sightseeing in Japan, you can easily enjoy painting and lettering on Andon lantern. Andon is often used as indoor lighting with a candle and makes for good interior decor.
First of all, the staff will introduce the actual Andon with its history. When the image of the lantern you want to make expands, choose one from five types of acrylic Washi paper covering the lantern light. You can also choose the lid and bottom for fixing the Washi paper, so there are more than 10 combinations in total. After listening to the instructions on how to make it from the staff, let's draw your favorite pictures and characters. A lantern is cylindrical, but the Washi paper is placed flat so that you can draw on it with ease. After painting and lettering, your lantern is done!
The lantern can be disassembled and folded down when not in use for easy carrying. The staff will explain how to assemble carefully. Lastly, the staff will help you take a commemorative photo. Please take the one-and-only lantern home as a souvenir from your trip to Japan.
