Known colloquially as “the Nation’s Kitchen”, the Osaka Castle is an important symbol of the unification of Japan in the 16th Century. Commence your tour by visiting this historical site, and be sure to have your cameras ready to snap photos of the beautiful architecture, which includes the intricately designed pagodas.
Next, tantalise your taste buds with the scrumptious food sold at the affordable food stalls that line the renovated banks of the Dotonbori canal. After filling up those bellies, it is time to explore the Shitennoji Temple. Also known as the Buddha Altar of Osaka, the temple is widely regarded as the first Buddhist temple in Japan. Its construction in 593 marks the birth of the religion in the country. While appreciating its beauty, take note of the subtle Buddhist influences in the building’s design, and compare it with that of Shintoism, which is relatively more widespread in Japan.
End the day with some breathtaking scenery as you head up to the Floating Garden Observatory. There, you can put your cameras to good use and take stunning snapshots of the phenomenal Osaka view.
