One of the oldest parks in Japan, Nara Park features Sika deer that roam the gardens freely.
The first attraction to visit is the Todaiji Temple: The ancient Buddhist temple was constructed over 1,300 years ago, and is the largest wooden building in the world. At the Great Buddha Hall, you will get to see the world’s biggest bronze statue of the Buddha.
Next up, go to the Kusuga Taisha shrine, which is famous for its unique architecture as well as the bronze lanterns which decorate the site. Pose in front of the shrine with the magnificent Kasuga Mountain in the backdrop for a postcard-perfect shot.
Lastly, stop by the Yakushi Temple, one of the most famous imperial and ancient temples in Japan. Built by Emperor Temmu in 680AD, the temple is also the headquarters of the Hossō school of Japanese Buddhism.
All three attractions are part of the Historic Monuments of Ancient Nara collective, and are inscribed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
