Furano Cheese Factory is one of the most popular places for production of cheese in Furano, Hokkaido. The northern Japanese island is widely known for its rich quantities of milk and industrial production of butter and cheese. In fact, Hokkaido's cheese is considered to be one of the finest and will satisfy even the most demanding tastes. At the Furano Cheese Factory you can see the process of making the local camembert cheese behind large windows. Furthermore the place boasts the production of ice-creams with unique tastes including sweet corn and black squid ink. There is also a pizza bar where you can try locally made pizza cooked in an old-fashioned furnace.
The highlight of Furano Cheese Factory however are the hands-on experiences offered in the workshop. You can learn how to make your own butter, ice-cream, cheese and bread! Due to the popularity of the place and the limited availability of the classes, prior reservation is necessary in order to take part in the hands-on activities. We will make a reservation for you and will secure your place in the classes offered. You will be able to pay the small class fee when you arrive. The local staff will be expecting you and in some cases (such as the bread making workshop) they will have completed the necessary preparations of the dough.
