Then, discover the famous Tiananmen Square and Forbidden City, two of the most photographed places in the world.
Meet your guide at the lobby of your hotel in Beijing city centre.
Start the tour visiting the Beijing Zoo, where you’ll be able to see giant pandas in real life. Did you know that giant pandas eat about 12-38 kg for bamboo everyday to get all their nutrients out of bamboo? Giant pandas (in)famously spend most of their day eating or digesting their food while napping.
Then you will visit the Lama Temple, the most celebrated Buddhist temple in Beijing and a temple of the Geluk School of Tibetan Buddhism. It is one of the largest and most influential in China and was the only temple to have been said to have survived the Cultural Revolution, and only reopened to the public in 1981. Take in the architecture and the oasis of calm amidst one of the most buzzing historic districts in the city, and enjoy the Tibetan thangkas, a traditional painting on cotton, or silk, depicting a Buddhist deity, scene, or mandala.
To quench your thirst afterwards, we will taste traditional Chinese tea at a Tea Shop inside the Bell Tower. If you thought tea tasting was easy and nice, you can choose to buy some as gifts for your friends. Then you will enjoy a traditional Chinese cuisine lunch in a local restaurant.
Next you will visit Tiananmen Square, one of the main symbols of Beijing. The square is one of the biggest in the world, and it is full of monuments and important venues like the National Flag Pole, the Monument to the People's Hero, the Chairman Mao Zedong Memorial Hall, the Great Hall of People and the National Museum. Then you will proceed to visit the Forbidden City, the largest and best-preserved ancient imperial palace in China with over 500 years of history. Here you will learn about the history of this sprawling World Heritage–listed complex, where Ming and Qing emperors once lived and ruled in opulence. Take in some of the 1,000 rooms and 800 buildings, and marvel at the exquisite luxury of imperial life.
After this wonderful day tour, your guide will drop you off at your hotel in Beijing city centre.
